Nelson Gondola

Project Details: 

This lift-accessed downhill bike park will feature a gondola or chairlift to bring hikers, bikers and sightseers to the top of Fringed Hill. The proposed attractions for the site include hilltop dining, an airpark, ropes course and zipline tour, accessible sightseeing viewpoints and hiking trails and a diverse mix of trails to suit any skill level.

The Brief:

Select Contracts was engaged to undertake market research to assess the opportunities and commercial viability of a gondola and potential associated attractions and produce a conceptual design and development plan for two base area options.

 

Our Approach:

We began this project by analyzing the site selection based on accessibility, suitable liftline placement and appropriate gradients for beginner bike trails. We also assessed the market demand for attraction offerings at a local, regional, national and international level and assessed the commercial viability of the project. 

 

The Result:

The final report included a component matrix of attractions that were appropriate for the market demographic, two block masterplan options with a gondola and attraction layout suitable for the terrain and a high-level financial summary for the development based on the recommended attractions.
