Upper Hutt Surf Park

Project Details: 

Upper Hutt Surf Park was proposed to sit within a 4.5-acre site located on Rimutaka Hill in Upper Hutt, New Zealand and it included a surf pool, clubhouse facility and a zipline.

The Brief:

Select Contracts was engaged to perform a Project Evaluation and Market Study to determine suitable attractions that meet the needs of the local community while also increasing visitation to the area.

 

Our Approach:

We began this process by reviewing and analyzing the leisure, recreation and entertainment markets available in the Upper Hutt & Wellington Region in-depth and where no relevant local product existed, we provided case studies from other regions of New Zealand.

 

The Result:

The final report included a component matrix of attractions that were appropriate for the market demographic and could be utilized year-round by both residents and visitors. We also produced a master plan and business plan for the proposed surf park attraction.
