Urban Island is an indoor entertainment paradise built for year-round usage in any climate. It is activity-based indoor fun geared to adults with features including a deep-water surf simulator, a bouldering/rock climbing wall with a plunge pool, a ninja-warrior-style obstacle course over water as well as spaces to hang out and relax such as cabanas, lounge pool with a swim-up bar and restaurant.
How Did We Help:
The Urban Island concept was developed by a client and elevated by Select Contracts to create the ultimate indoor-entertainment destination.
The Brief:
Select Contracts was initially contracted in 2018 to conduct a market and feasibility study, business planning and conceptual design for a facility located in Calgary, Canada.
Our Approach:
As part of the Market and Feasibility study we analyzed the Calgary resident market (with a specific focus on the Millennial generation) and assessed their spending power as well as studying the domestic and international visitor markets. We then analyzed the local competitive market with a broad scope of adult and all-ages entertainment options.
This allowed us to make recommendations for suitable attraction components leading to a robust financial model for the business which has the ability to attract commercial investment.
The Result:
Select Contracts initially completed a detailed market and feasibility assessment and the conceptual design of a 2000m2 facility that could be adapted to suit any location. In addition, conceptual block plans were produced for a potential outdoor site in San Diego.
